Overview

OncInsights™ is Intervention Insights’ medical information service that combines cutting edge bioinformatics tools with disease insight to specify molecularly targeted drugs to help community oncologists develop informed treatment plans for their patients.

Fortunately, most cancer patients are treated successfully by their community oncologists with standard-of-care therapies. But regrettably for some patients, the unique molecular composition of their cancer or the extreme aggressiveness of their cancer can make them less responsive. OncInsights was designed with these patients in mind.

The purpose of the OncInsights service is to deliver molecular insights to community oncologists describing an individual’s unique tumor at a genomic level. The OncInsights report then provides an evidenced-based list of therapies that target the unique molecular basis of the cancer.

Overview diagram of the OncInsights process

1 Physician consults with an eligible patient and presents the option of the OncInsights service.
2 Patient is encouraged to explore and learn more about the Intervention Insights difference and the OncInsights service. Physician's office collects key data on the patient's specific disease and invites the patient to enroll through Intervention Insights' secure website.
3 Patient undergoes a biopsy as part of standard-of-care pathology practices to acquire a fresh tumor sample.
4 A small portion of the tumor sample is sent to our CLIA Lab for analysis in a special shipping kit provided by Intervention Insights.
5 The lab processes the sample to develop a complete genomic signature of the patient's unique cancer measuring more than 20,000 genes and 54,000 molecular data points to create a full molecular pathway map of the patient’s disease.
6 The data is then processed by our bioinformatics platform, which thoroughly analyzes the patient’s information using a series of algorithms to identify key drug targets or signatures of drug response/resistance. The patient’s unique profile is then interrogated against molecularly targeted drug databases to align molecular characteristics of the patient’s disease with potential therapeutic interventions.
7 Related scientific and clinical evidence (publications, trials, research) is then located and linked through the MedTrust® oncology information service.
8 The personalized OncInsights Report is generated and delivered to the physician through Intervention Insights' secure website.
9 Physician uses the report to assist in applying their clinical expertise to develop an informed treatment plan with the patient.

Note: After the process comes full circle, Intervention Insights continues to partner with physicians by tracking results of patient outcomes to help continuously improve the OncInsights service.
